Frequently asked about snowmobile safaris
Can I see frozen waterfalls?
Korouoma is a year-round destination, but it is especially famous for its stunning frozen waterfalls in winter. The ice formations typically develop during the coldest months, usually from December to March, depending on weather conditions. In many years, the frozen waterfalls can last well into spring and do not fully melt until May. In summer and autumn, the canyon offers beautiful hiking scenery with cliffs, forests, and flowing streams instead of ice.
Food, drinks & toilets during the tour
During the trip, we take a break for a lunch around a campfire. At this stop, we grill sausages over an open fire and serve warm juice to keep you cozy. There is also a cold outdoor toilet (outhouse) available at the resting area.
Who is the Korouoma tour suitable for?
The Korouoma canyon tour is suitable for almost everyone and does not require excellent physical fitness. However, please note that the trail is about 5 km long in winter conditions and includes some uphill sections, so a basic level of mobility and comfort walking outdoors is recommended.
What happens if the weather is very cold or snowy?
The experience runs in all typical Arctic winter conditions. In extreme weather, safety always comes first, and the guide may adjust the program if needed to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all guests.
Do I need special winter clothing or ice grips for the Korouoma tour?
No, you do not need to bring any special equipment. We provide a warm thermal overall and ice grips that can be attached to your shoes for extra stability on snowy and icy trails. We still recommend wearing warm layers underneath the overall to stay comfortable throughout the day
What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
If your tour includes lunch, snacks, or refreshments, please let us know about any food allergies or dietary restrictions when making your booking. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and provide suitable alternatives whenever possible. To ensure we can make the necessary arrangements, it is important that we receive this information in advance.
