Experience an Unforgettable Winter Cycling Adventure with Stunning Views around Rovaniemi!
Join us for a group ride every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and discover the breathtaking winter landscapes of Rovaniemi. Our guide will lead the group to the top of Ounasvaara Hill, where you can enjoy the magic of winter cycling along scenic snow-covered trails.
This tour is ideal for beginners in mountain biking. As long as you can ride a regular bike, you’re ready to experience winter cycling on electric fat bikes! With electric assistance, even the hills are made easy and fun, and navigating the snowy trails is a truly memorable adventure.
We start from Hostel Cafe Koti in the city center, and within minutes, we’ll be immersed in the quiet, snowy forests of Ounasvaara. We’ll ride to the top of the hill and back to town along beautiful forest paths and winter trails.
Travel/Accident Insurance: Roll Outdoor Oy has liability insurance that covers errors caused by the guide/company. However, you are responsible for your own actions during the tour, so please ensure you have personal travel or accident insurance.
The minimum height for cyclists is 150 cm.
Winter cycling on an electric mountain bike is very easy if you have regular cycling experience. Despite the electric assistance, e-biking is still a form of exercise and can be quite demanding if you haven’t ridden in years or are in less than optimal physical condition.
Lapland's weather can sometimes be unpredictable. On good days, the winter trail is easy and fun to ride, almost like a rollercoaster, where you can adjust the speed to your liking. The trail is maintained as best as possible in all weather conditions, but challenging conditions may lead to route changes if the trail becomes too difficult.
However, the majority of the tours (99.9%) can be carried out regardless of the weather, and we almost always reach the top of Ounasvaara. Every tour is fun! If conditions become too challenging, we will decide together whether to cancel the tour or reschedule it for another time.
During the winter season, temperatures can range from mild to extreme cold, so it’s important to dress thoughtfully. You should wear a bit more than you would for a skiing trip, but less than for downhill skiing. :-)
Note: It's advisable to avoid long coats or loose pants as they can get caught in the bike’s wheels or chain. The same goes for scarves that hang loosely.
